ACHIEVEMENTS: In 2009 Montreal's Centaur Theatre selected our production, 'Rock, Paper, Jackknife...' for its Brave New Looks--a slot in the Centaur's programming reserved for the best of Montreal's up-and-coming theatre companies. As well as receiving good reviews from the English press, on November 3, 2009, 'Down Dangerous Passes Road' won the Prix de la critique by L'Association québécoise des critiques de théâtre (AQCT) for Best English language production of 2008: "...Talisman could well be an important contributor to the reunification of the 'two solitudes'". 'That Woman' was nominated for the Prix de la critique for Best English language production in 2007. MILESTONES: Talisman's first production was 'That Woman' a translation of the Governor General (GG) award-winning play by Daniel Danis. It was so successful that it was restaged as a co-production with Infinitheatre with the assistance of a grant from Heritage Canada. Our second production was 'Down Dangerous Passes Road' by Michel-Marc Bouchard for which we received Heritage Canada and Canada Council for the Arts (CCA) funding. Both English versions were translations by GG award-winning translator Linda Gaboriau. Our third production 'Rock, Paper, Jackknife...' by Marilyn Perreault received support from Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec, Heritage Canada, CCA and the Cole Foundation. |
